Not fine dining.....but definitely good grub. Generously portioned homemade and homecooked dishes. Steak pie with veg and roast potatoes was more than I could finish and as a butchers son I'm picky about the quality of meat used. Great value at 10. Won't be our last visit..."we'll be back"!!
What a wonderful place been here many times, can't fault it food amazing and staff vary friendly. me and wife just had roast ,130 mile round trip makes a good day on portland perfect ,
For me, it is an old school restaurant. Home cooked food . Special of the days, roast dinner daily. Fry up, pies.Fresh cakes, cheesecakes.Staff were really friendly and helpful. Even when I didn't get some I asked for, I said not to worry, they still done it.Pricing was good for this day with the cost of living.Sad, we keep losing these little gems.Great work, Sugar loaf.
Stopped off on a whim having originally planned just coffee and cake. Ended up having a full roast each! Great portions, fantastic price and lovely food. Service warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
Just had the most delicious Sunday Roast and Eton Mess. Amazing service and home cooked style food.My new favourite place!
I had the English breakfast here a couple of times. It was excellent - great ingredients, cooked just how I like it. Dogs allowed, plus there’s a dog-free area as well. The cafe also sells home made chutneys. Very nice staff. I would definitely go back. Even worth a detour onto Portland if I’m passing …
In the nearly 6 years of having children I've never felt more welcome in a cafe/restaurant before. The lovely waitress Sarah was fantastic with the children she really put so much effort in, absolutely nothing was a problem. There were 9 of us on a Sunday afternoon & they kindly managed to fit us in. The food was all homemade tasted delicious and great value for money. Service was 10/10 what a lovely place.
What a find! A gem of a place, we were looking for 'all day breakfast' & SO glad to have discovered this place. Not only is the food fantastic & a good price, the staff are just fabulous! Desserts & cakes are home made & you can buy home made chutneys & jams too. It's cosy with character (you need to book for Sunday roast we find) and we have kept coming back, wouldn't go anywhere else now! If the lemon meringue pie is on, you're in for a real treat! Best veggie nut roast I've ever had!
